Information on the training of highly qualified scientific personnel at the Institution

PhD and doctoral programs at the Institute.

The Institute offers a doctoral program by the specialty 03.02.07–genetics (biological sciences) and a PhD program by the specialties as follows: 03.02.07–genetics; 03.01.07–molecular genetics; and 03.01.06–biotechnology (including bionanotechnology) (a branch–biological sciences).

As of December 31, 2024, 13 persons studied at the Institute.

Ten persons are PhD program participants: 8 PhD students by the specialty 03.01.07–molecular genetics and 2–by the specialty 03.02.07– genetics; 5 out of them are full-time students, 4 candidates and a student by correspondence.

Three persons are partakers of a doctoral program: 2–full-time (entered in 2022) and a student by correspondence (entered in 2024). Training is carried out for the own needs of the Institute.

In fact, 4 persons completed a PhD program by the specialty 03.01.07–molecular genetics in 2024 (3 studied for the own needs of the Institute and 1 for an outside organization–the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus). The graduates successfully acquired knowledge of the postgraduate first-degree program with a possibility of submitting their theses for defense within three years after the studies.

Information on the number of dissertations (PhD and doctoral) implemented under the supervision of organization’s scientific personnel of an advanced qualification:

PhD thesis supervision – 19 units

Scientific supervision of doctoral dissertations – 8 units

A list of documents to be submitted for a PhD programme:

  1. An application addressed to the head of an educational institution implementing science-oriented educational programs;
  2. A personnel record sheet (form download);
  3. CV (form download);
  4. A copy of a higher education diploma;
  5. A copy of a diploma supplement;
  6. A copy of a Master’s degree diploma;
  7. A copy of a Master’s diploma supplement;
  8. A copy of a certificate on PhD candidacy examinations;
  9. A list and copies of published scientific papers, and in their absence – an abstract according to the chosen specialty;
  10. Documents confirming participation in the implementation of scientific research and innovative projects; copies of materials and/or abstract reports presented at scientific as well as scientific and practical conferences, forums, symposiums and other similar events (if any);
  11. A characteristic of the scientific level of published papers. Expert appointment order for preparing a characteristic of the scientific level of published papers for persons applying for a PhD program;
  12. Documents giving a preferential right to be enrolled in a PhD program to obtain a “Researcher” qualification (if any);
  13. Three photos of 4×6 cm (for candidates – 2 photos);
  14. A medical certificate of good health according to the established form;
  15. A passport photocopy (pages 30, 31, 32 and 33; a registration address);
  16. Two envelopes with an applicant’s return address.

For persons specified in paragraph 39 of the Provision on the Conferment of Academic Degrees and Awarding Academic Ranks approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of November 17, 2004, No. 56 – a document on the implementation of dissertation research approved by the President of the Republic of Belarus, a person in charge of a government body or any other state organization.

Additionally to be submitted:

For the graduates of the Master’s program of the current year:

A letter of recommendation for a Master’s program graduate to apply for a PhD program.

For those applying for an extramural form of study:

A copy of an employment record book or other documents confirming two-year work experience in holding positions that require higher education.

For those entering as candidates for a period for up to 5 years:

A copy of an employment record book or other documents confirming two-year work experience in holding positions that require higher education.

A conclusion of a scientific seminar meeting on the relevance of the topic, the quality and scope of individually implemented research on the topic of the thesis being prepared and a permit to take part in the competition; on a prospective academic supervisor and a thesis topic (based on it, a similar extract from the protocol of a laboratory’s/department’s scientific seminar is made).

Persons who have not passed candidate exams and tests in general disciplines are required to pass them before joining a postgraduate programme (except for admission to a postgraduate programme as candidates for a period for up to 5 years).

Identity and original educational documents should be submitted in person by those applying for a PhD program!
