THROMBOSIS & HYPERTENSIVE CRISES

A hypertensive crisis is a medical emergency occurring due to a sharp increase in blood pressure, which poses a serious threat to life.

Hypertensive crisis symptoms:

  • High blood pressure (indicators are individual)
  • Sharp headache, usually in the occipital region of head
  • Nausea, vomiting and dizziness
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Pain in the heart area
  • Agitation, irritability
  • Visual impairment, “goose bumps” before your eyes
  • Skin redness.

The danger of crises is that they cause damage to the cardiovascular system and brain. The consequences of hypertensive crises can be as follows: cerebral circulation disorder (a stroke) and acute hypertensive encephalopathy, angina, myocardial infarction and acute heart failure.

Thrombophilia is a pathological condition characterized by impaired blood clotting and an increased risk of blood clots. Thrombophilia can be hereditary, i.e. determined by the specific features of your genes and acquired as a result of surgical interference, serious injuries, long-term use of medications (e.g. oral contraceptives).

Thrombophilia is quite common. This can be explained by the “aging” of the population, sedentary lifestyle, various existing or past diseases, domestic and industrial injuries, eating and drinking habits and medication intake. Thrombophilia increases the likelihood of many cardiovascular diseases’ development.
