AUTOIMMUNE RHEUMATIC DISEASES
IN CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS

Autoimmune diseases are the result of complex pathological processes with impaired tolerance and an immune system attack on its own organism. Many autoimmune diseases occur in childhood and adolescence, causing pain and suffering. The exact cause of autoimmune diseases remains unknown. Among the risk factors of autoimmune diseases, genetic predisposition can be decisive.

We carry out molecular genetic testing in accordance with the Instructions approved by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus. In our work, we use a modern and highly accurate research technique ― PCR-RV.

We study the polymorphism of genes involved in the manifestation of diseases.

  • 4 polymorphisms ― for a predisposition to juvenile idiopathic arthritis;
  • 6 polymorphisms ― for a predisposition to juvenile-onset systemic lupus erythematosus;
  • 3 polymorphisms ― for a predisposition to Kawasaki disease.

 

The results of the study conducted allow us to establish a genetic predisposition to the aforementioned diseases and facilitate a diagnosis. The study material is buccal epithelium (the superficial layer of cells on the inside part of your cheek) collected with a sterile cotton swab. The collection of material is completely painless and is carried out by a patient himself or his parents following the instructions of our specialists.
